Artificial floods hit Howraghat

HOWRAGHAT, Sept 2: Incessant rains that lashed large areas of Howraghat LAC constituency on Tuesday flooded several areas including Samaguri, Batabari, Howraghat Tiniali, Gorjaga, Durgapur, Rangersit and Mahalichit villages.

Sources said absence of proper drainage system in the area led to artificial floods here. Many houses, educational institutions and paddy fields were inundated in the artificial flood.

The Howraghat constituency people expressed serious concern over the apathy of the district administration towards the flood-affected areas. The people also said that these flood-hit areas were the vote bank of Asom HAD minister Kharsing Engti. But, no measure or steps for distribution of relief materials has been taken up by the administration as yet. THE SENTINEL
