Two ULFA cadres apprehended

RUPAI, Sept 10: The extortion attempts by the ULFA in Tinsukia were dealt a severe blow with the arrest of two cadres by 8 Garhwal Rifles from Kakojan yesterday. Based on reports about extortion demands being placed on small tea estates and businessmen in the area, a joint team of the Philobari Army Camp and Doomdooma Police had been tracking the phone calls and movement of the cadres for a long time. An elaborate trap was laid and two cadres Binoy Baruah alias Dibyajyoti Gohain (24), a resident of Kathalguri village and Tilanku Moran alias Satyajit Moran or Sanakya (26), a resident of Mamaroni village were apprehended from Kakojan yesterday.

Two 9mm pistols, seven live rounds, extortion pads, mobile phones and other incriminating material were recovered from the two. The cadres are absconders from the ULFA ceasefire group camp at Kakopathar and have been handed over to the Doomdooma police station. THE SENTINEL
