SHILLONG, March 4: Meghalaya’s plea for joint ventures with Britain received a favourable response from the British High Commissioner who was on a two day visit to the state. The sectors in question include education and tourism. The High Commissioner who was in Shillong along with the Deputy Commissioner Simon Wilson ruled out any direct financial or technological aid to the state and the region in view of the Bilateral policies of the India and United Kingdom, However speaking to newsmen, he said “Although the scope of direct financial and technological aid is not a possibility, our endeavour will focus on tie ups with our institutions that could help in sustaining development in the field of education as well as in promoting tourism” the sentinel
