Workshop on journalism held

HAILAKANDI, March 4 – A daylong workshop on the various aspects of journalism was organised at the conference hall of Municipal Office recently under the auspices of Hailakandi Press Club for the working mofussil correspondents of the district. It was conducted by the president of the club, Ujjwal Kumar Das. Various topics on journalism were discussed in the workshop. Those who spoke in the workshop included Satananda Bhattacharjee (developmental journalism), Jyotilal Choudhury (basics of journalism), Arijit Aditya (professional responsibility and modern journalism), Bibhuti Bhusan Goswami (political journalism), Uttam Kumar Saha (investigative and crime reporting) and Shyamalendu Chakraborty (script writing and grammar). The workshop was anchored by Pinak Pani Bhattacharjee. The purpose was explained by the secretary of the club, Manjur Ahmed.

The open session on social degradation: journalists and newspaper held on the occasion was presided over by the president of the club, Ujjwal Kumar Das. It was addressed by eminent journalist Taimur Raja Choudhury, Nilutphal Choudhury, Nitish Bhattacharjee, Abul Hussain Mazumdar, Pranabananda Das, Manjur Ahmed among others. All the speakers expressed serious concern over the social and moral degradation of the society and urged the people to fight unitedly against this and help the media to show the right path to the people.
