Court sentence for bank defaulters

GUWAHATI, Sept 16: Guwahati Cooperative Bakijai Court has sentenced Bichitra Ram Das, Jogesh Chandra Kalita, Kushal Rava and Dinesh Kumar Singh for defaulting their dues to the Cooperative City Bank Ltd. The Court has sentenced them to thirty days in prison, stated a press release.
The Court found them guilty of not responding to the notices issued by it in connection to the Bakijai cases, registered under the Bengal Public Demands Recovery Act 1913, on receipt of requisition from the Bank for recovery of loans amounting to Rs 60,000 from each debtor. The debtors were arrested with the help of Chandmari, Basistha and Geetanagar police. The Bank is under the dual control of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Assam, and the Reserve Bank of India. THE SENTINEL
