KOHIMA, Sept 30 – Nagaland Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu released Lessons from Life, an autobiography of Kiremwati, the first Naga to obtain the degree of Master of Science in 1957, at Red Cross Conference Hall here recently.

Lessons from Life perhaps the first English autobiography written by a Naga, is an account of an eminent educationist and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of NEHU. The book published by Dimapur based Window Media with a foreword by SC Jamir, Governor of Maharashtra was released by Dr Shurhozelie at a function attended by Prof K Kannan, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University and Banuo Z Jamir, Additional Chief Secretary besides eminent personalities.

Prof Kannan commenting on the book said the stark difference I see in the University and the autobiography is that Kiremwati always thought about his duties and never asked for his rights. He observed that the author practices four skills namely, reading, speaking, listening and writing.

Talking about the book, Kiremwati said that it is a humble presentation of his experiences in brief for the readers to take lessons from. I have lived 80 years in this book and the unknown future of my sweet period is in God’s hands, he said. He told The Assam Tribune that the Chief Minister of Nagaland has assured the printing of 1,000 copies of the book and has thus been funded by the Government of Nagaland for free distribution to recognized institutions in the State.
