Dissolving of SKAC welcomed

DIBRUGARH, Oct 14: Several organizations have welcomed the State Government’s decision to dissolve the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC).

The All Assam Sonowal Kachari Students’ Union (AASKSU), Sonowal Kachari Jatiya Parishad (SKJP) and Sonowal Kachari Nari Xantha (SKNX) expressed satisfaction over the move made by the Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi. In a press statement signed by the presidents of the three organizations, Ratan Kachari, Chandan Sonowal and Rashmirekha Sonowal respectively, the three bodies welcomed the decision.

It has been a long-standing demand of the organizations to dissolve the Council and had taken up several agitation steps in the past. They alleged that the Chief Executive Member of the autonomous body had misappropriated the funds allotted for the community’s development by the State Government. The AASKSU, SKJP and SKNX urged upon the Government to form the Council through democratic process as soon as possible. THE SENTINEL
