ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Fake currencies have been found in Daporijo, the headquarters of Upper Subansiri district. The issue apparently came to light when a man was trying to purchase a TV set with fake notes of Rs 500 denomination. Reportedly, these notes are in circulation through two sources: one, political parties and secondly, through the State Bank of India, the only bank in the district headquarters.
Speaking to The Arunachal Sentinel over the alleged role of the SBI in circulating fake currency, Officer In-charge (OC) of Daporijo Police Station N Kalita said, “Since the fake currency rumour came to light, we are keeping a strict check on the SBI branch”.
However, the OC also clarified that no FIR has been filed so far. THE SENTINEL
