JORHAT, Dec 31: The All Assam University Workers’ Association has demanded that the Governor constitute a combined pay committee without further delay so that a pay revision of non-teaching staff in universities can be formulated at the earliest, a press release said. The association had in 2008 sought the constitution of the committee through a memorandum but till date nothing has been done. The process of pay revision of Rs 4.5 lakh State Government employees has already begun, but due to the delay in the constitution of the committee more than 5,000 non-teaching staff will be deprived of a higher pay structure, the release said.
