Army organizes tour for students under Operation Sadbhavana

DHUBRI, Dec 4: A National Integration Tour for the students of Bongaigaon district was formally flagged off by Commander of 11 Mountain Brigade Brigadier DVS Rana at Bongaigaon amidst a huge gathering of the Army, civil administration, students, guardians, teachers and local media persons recently. The tour was organized by 19 Battalion of the Madras Regiment of the Red Horns Division under Operation Sadbhavana.

The tour comprising 18 students and two teachers from the remote areas of Bongaigaon district will tour Delhi-Jaipur-Agra for a duration of two weeks. The aim of the national integration tour is to expose the children of Assam to the academic and professional environment of the country and also to educate them about the rich culture and heritage of the other States.

The students, during the tour, will also interact with several Army and civil dignitaries, sources in the Army said. A medical camp was also organized during the occasion. While addressing the gathering at the flagging ceremony, Rana spoke about the significance of such tours for the children of the State in creating awareness and a feeling of brotherhood and nationalism. There was an overwhelming response from the local population for the venture organized by the Army.

The visit has been scheduled to the places of historical importance and educational interest at Delhi, Jaipur and Agra which include a visit to the Red Fort, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Qutub Minar, Taj Mahal, Jaipur Fort, Hawa Mahal and other famous sightseeing places. THE SENTINEL
