GUWAHATI, Dec 10: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the revised pay to the State Government employees will be paid from January next year, but the date of its effect depends much on Central assistance and award from the 13th Finance Commission. “We are ready to effect the revised pay scale from April 1, 2009, but how far we can go in accordance with the employees’ demand for new pay package with effect from January 1, 2006 depends much on assistance from the Central Government and award from the 13th Finance Commission,” Gogoi said.
Talking to newsmen here today, Gogoi said: “Even if we don’t get Central assistance and award from the 13th Finance Commission, we will implement the revised pay in the State from January, 2010. We will discuss the matter at today’s Cabinet meeting. All the northeastern States have demanded 100 per assistance from the 13th Finance Commission for payment of the additional burden of salaries. Other States of the country have demanded 50 per cent of the additional burden from the 13th Finance Commission.” THE SENTINEL
