SHILLONG, Jan 2: The State Government’s revised pay structure has not reached out to the pensioners as yet. Three months have passed since the Meghalaya Government decided to implemented the new pay package, yet most of the pensioners who have been drawing their pensions from the banks are still being denied of their financial benefits by the banks.
Sources said the State Finance Department has not given the order to the State Bank of India to withdraw the money for payment of the pensioners. According to sources, there are two groups of pensioners—one is those for which the Government transfers the money to the treasury office before transferring the receipt to the banks and the other group comprises employees whose payments are transferred directly from the Finance Department to their respective accounts.
