Rock concert held in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Feb 11: A rock concert was held at the auditorium of Dibrugarh University recently in aid of a school.

Siddharth Mohan from Delhi performed to a packed hall at the Peace Musical Concert, which was organized by the Art of Living Foundation. The Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr KK Deka, and Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh, GD Tripathi, lighted the ceremonial lamp before the start of the programme.

The concert was held in aid of Sri Sri Gyan Mandir, a school at Mohong Gaon in Kakopathar under Tinsukia district. The village, which has a population of around 800, was once the hotbed of ULFA activities and lags behind in development. The school has been started by the upper Assam chapter of Art of Living Foundation and imparts free education besides providing uniforms and midday meals to the students, who belong to the village and surrounding areas. It is spread over ten bighas. The first academic session started on January 22, this year. Eight teachers engaged in the school were trained at Bangaluru.
At the beginning of the concert, the member of the managing body of the school, Kalpana Khound, made a brief presentation on the school. Students and teachers of the university were present in the three-hour-long programme. THE SENTINEL
