Saraswati Puja observed
Staff ReporterGUWAHATI, Jan 31 – Saraswati Puja, the occasion where people pay obeisance to the Goddess of Learning, was celebrated in the State along with the rest of the country today. The student and teaching community, in particular, observed the day with different programmes. The city, too, had its fair share of the festivities, with the educational institutions witnessing a rush of students since morning. Schools and colleges – decked up for the occasion and with hordes of colourfully dressed students, especially girls, created a festive ambience. After completion of puja rituals in the morning hours, everyone was treated to the traditional lunch of khichiri. The evening saw cultural functions widely participated by the students.
Educational institutions apart, many government offices and private firms also celebrated the day in a befitting manner.
The Assam Tribune group of newspapers, too, observed Saraswati Puja in its office campus.
