Contest between AGP-BJP vs Congress in Assam Election

Assam Lok Sabha Election

Taimur appeals to voters not to vote for AGP, BJP, AUDF

GUWAHATI, April 20: The AUDF has decided to contest the Lok Sabha polls only to erode the Congress votes in the State. But the party cannot do so as it expected. This was claimed by former Asom Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Anowara Taimur in a press statement.
She further claimed the AUDF has entered the field to contest the polls just to help the AGP-BJP alliance, but it cannot inflict any harm to the Congress. This is because the Congress has been working towards peace, integrity and development of the poor and the country since its formation, what has not been done by any other political party. The Congress is the only political party which has the foundation of secularism. On the contrary, the AGP and the BJP are communal by nature, she said. The AGP-BJP alliance is contesting the Lok Sabha polls to make LK Advani the prime minister, she said.

She further said people should not vote for the BJP which is responsible for the massacre of Muslims in Gujarat and burning of Christians alive in Orissa. Similarly, the AGP should not be voted for its tie-up with the BJP. On the contrary, people should vote for the Congress to keep the country going towards peace, integrity and prosperity with the able leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, she added.
Taimur has been running to and fro from Guwahati and Nalbari, Mangaldai and other places where majority of voters belong to the minority community. THE SENTINEL

GUWAHATI, April 20: The Heaven has organized a face-to-face interaction programme of Akshay Kumar Rajkhowa, the NCP candidate for Guwahati LS constituency, with the mediapersons. In the prgramme, Rajkhowa said PA Sangma’s absence as in-charge of the North East Chapter of NCP is felt by the voters as well as the people of Asom, as Sangma has not participated in any election rally for all the three candidates of NCP in Guwahati, Diphu and Dibrugarh. Sangma was supposed to participate an election rally on April 18 for Rajkhowa at Boko. But he denied that rally. Interestingly, Sangma has participated in a public rally for UG Brahma of BPPF at Sidlee. To a question of mediapersons, Rajkhowa defended Sangma saying he (Rajkhowa) himself is competent to meet the campaign for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
