GUWAHATI, June 8 – Prof Gautam Baruah, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, formally launched the Guwahati city chapter of Young Indians (Yi) at a programme held at Vivekananda Kendra here today, a press release stated.
Yi is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), formed in 2002, with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realise the dream of a developed nation. Yi has over 900 direct members in the existing city chapters and engages another 10,000 members through its district chapters, corporate chapters, farmers’ Net and students’ Net. With the addition of the Guwahati chapter, Yi will have 18 city chapters.
Dr Rahul Mirchandani, national chair, Young Indians, and executive director, Aries Agro and Dr Bhupati K Das, chairman, CII Assam State Council and Managing Director, Numaligarh Refinery Limited addressed the gathering.
At the programme, Ajay Agarwal, partner, Singhi & Co and Atreyee B Thekadath, director, Web.Com (India) Pvt Ltd were nominated as the chapter chair and chapter co-chair of the Guwahati city chapter respectively, the release added.
