DPC condoles death of journalist

DIBRUGARH, March 12: The Dibrugarh Press Club (DPC) and the Greater Dibrugarh Press Club (GDPC) offered condolences on the death of eminent journalist and editor of an Asomiya daily, Dr Khiren Roy, during a meeting held here today. Dr Roy died yesterday at his residence in Guwahati.

The DPC President Prabir Chakraborty chaired the occasion. The Vice-President of the club, Bibhas Duwara said that Dr Roy was the first person in Northeast India to do a doctorate in journalism. His death is an irreparable loss, he added.

Dr Sashikanta Saikia of GDPC also recalled the achievements of Dr Roy. Meanwhile, the All Assam Journalists’ Union also condoled the demise of Dr Roy. The organization conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the family. THE SENTINEL
