Significance of Int’l Women’s Day explained


GUWAHATI, March 12 – International Women’s Day was observed by women in the public sector (WIPS) cell of Guwahati Refinery with enthusiasm on March 8 at Kajalichaki village near Chandrapur, a press release said.

A health awareness programme for the women of Kajalichaki and other nearby villages was organised. Dr BP Sarma, Deputy General Manager (Med) explained the causes and prevention of malaria and burn injuries and treatment thereof, through slide presentation.

Dr Mridu Plavan Bora, a child specialist of Pratiksha Hospital elaborately explained to the women about child care and diet for children. After the health awareness programme, mosquito nets were distributed to the ladies from Kajalichaki village, Hatibagara village and Khatargaon village.

Apart from the women participants, around 200 villagers from Kajalichaki, Hatibagara and Khatargaon village joined the programme with great enthusiasm. At the beginning of the programme, Binita Brahma, welcomed all and explained the significance of International Women’s Day. Assam Tribune
