GUWAHATI, June 11 – Members of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad today staged sit-in demonstrations all over the State in support of their demands for solving the problems facing public sector schools and colleges. They also demanded solution to other basic issues concerning the student community of the State.
The AJYCP said in a press release that permanent headmasters/ principals of the schools and colleges should be appointed and venture institutes should also be provincialised. Besides, the vacant posts of teachers in the public sector educational institutions should be filled up, decision to hike the tuition fees of these educational institutions should also be revoked, it said.
It has also demanded introduction of Geography and History as compulsory subjects at the secondary level.
The members of the organization sent their memorandums to the Chief Minister through the respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Subdivisional Officers (SDOs).
