Bhupendra Nath Bhattacharjee, a social worker of repute and an expert in plywood, breathed his last in his own residence on Ram Krishna Mission Road, Dhubri, on July 20. He was 87. He leaves behind his wife, two sons, grand sons and grand daughter and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers.
Bhattacharjee was born on July 2, 1922. He came to Dhubri in 1948 as a manager of the Dhubri Plywood Factory and settled down here permanently. He was an expert in plywood and had served in several plywood industries of Kolkata, Cuttak and Siliguri before coming to Dhubri. His lucid and pinpoint deliberation on plywood was so admired that it was broadcasted through Akashvani. He shaped the future of the plywood industries in Asom.
