DIBRUGARH, July 29: The Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka, while taking part in an interactive discussion organized by the Dibrugarh District Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) at a local hotel recently claimed that the State has the necessary infrastructure for the pursuit of higher education. He said that, the Dibrugarh University had introduced several job-oriented courses and the process for introducing more such courses would continue in days to come. He lamented that, the students did not utilize the opportunities in hand and even those with a post-graduate degree could not write an application correctly. The interactive discussion was attended by president, Biraj Talukdar, general secretary, Monoj Barua, organizing secretary, Sanjay Baruah of AJYCP, senior lecturer of Dibru College, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, lecturer of Monohari Devi Kanoi Girls’ College-cum-columnist, Dr Lohit Saikia, secretary (in-charge) of Greater Dibrugarh Press Club, Manjit Bora. Participants discussed on various social problems like increasing unemployment problems, invasion of Western culture and values, tendency to earn easy money. SOURCE: THE SENTINEL
