GUWAHATI, Oct 5: The Election Commission of India will hold by-polls in seven States, including Asom, on November 7, 2009. The polls in 22 Salmara South and 71 Dhekiajuli Legislative Assembly constituencies (LACs) would be held on November 7, 2009. The Dhekiajuli LAC remained vacant as siting MLA of the constituency Joseph Toppo of the AGP was elected to Parliament. Salmara South MLA Badaruddin Ajmal of the AUDF also vacated the seat as he was elected an MP. THE SENTINEL
