Controversy over GU election

GUWAHATI, Oct 15: Controversy surrounded the election result of Gauhati University’s Post Graduate Students’ Union (GU PGSU) as Abhijit Borah, an NSUI supported candidate, made it to the post of general secretary beating girls’ candidate Pallavi Saikia by a marginal vote of six. Pallavi Saikia has alleged foulplay in the results as she was leading the votes count initially. She and her supporters gheraoed the office of Election Officer and demanded re-counting of votes. Meanwhile, NSUI State president Joy Prakash Das has thanked the students for the victory of their party-backed candidate. AASU backed Montu Kumar Borah has been elected the vice president of GU PGSU.
