AIZAWL, Oct 13: Conferences of 39 Presbyteries of the Mizoram Presbyterian Church discussed many issues including homosexuality and prohibition in the State.
Some of the presbyteries resolved that the Mizoram Presbyterian Synod, the highest decision-making body of the church, be moved to make its stand clear on the issue of homosexuality.
The church had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Union Law Minister protesting decriminalisation of homosexuality following Delhi High Court order. However, gays or lesbians living together had never been ex-communicated by the church due to the absence of proper and formal guidelines.
Some Presbyteries also made resolution asking the powerful Young Mizo Association (YMA) to re-launch anti-drug and alcohol campaign in this dry State. (PTI)
