GUWAHATI, Oct 13: Close to a year since serial blasts rocked Asom including Guwahati, Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar on October 30, 2008, claiming more than 100 lives and injuring more than 300 people, fears of a major serial blast looms large over the State. While residents are yet to erase the memories of the gruesome incident that rocked Asom a year back, the Intelligence Department of the Assam Police has reported the possibility of a major blast in the State before October 30, 2009. According to Intelligence Department sources, banned militant outfit ULFA is planning to carry serial blasts in the city and other places of Asom.
Following this information, all police stations are on a high alert. Security has been beefed up in all places to avert any unlikely incident. According to sources, the ULFA has planned two major blasts in Guwahati and one each in Tezpur and Dhekiajuli. ULFA 27 Battalion cadre Horen Mahanta has already entered Guwahati to implement the blast design, sources said.
