In the other camp, the Congress wasted no time in discarding the allegations as a manifestation of the frustration already infested in the BJP.
Landing back at Itanagar after a failed attempt to fly to Eastern Arunachal to campaign for INC nominees, V Narayanswamy and Luizinho Faleiro, former Goa Chief Minister, termed the BJP’s charges as last-minute resort to attempt false propaganda against the Congress which is all set to come back to power with a thumping majority.
“BJP ka doosra naam hai Bharatiya Jhootha Party!” Narayanswamy retorted in his inimitable style.
He claimed that there has been no violation whatsoever of the model code of conduct and the Congress is abiding by all rules of the ECI.
“We are paying from our own pockets for meals and stay at guest houses during the campaign. We have not taken any assistance from the government machinery during our tours,” claimed Narayanswami, who along with Faleiro and others had toured Lower and Upper Subansiri by road a day earlier.
The INC leader reiterated that there was no chance of any pre-poll or post-poll alliance with anybody. Nullifying the speculation that Congress leaders were supporting some candidates from the opposition camps, he asserted that the party will never recognize MLAs winning from Opposition party tickets.
On the BJP’s objection to his ‘comment’ in the Itanagar public rally, he clarified that he only meant to say that UPA was a liberal government and it would continue to support the growth of Arunachal Pradesh therefore had sought people’s vote.
“There is nothing wrong in what I said. They (BJP) have misinterpreted my comments,” he added. THE SENTINEL
