MECHUKA, Oct 9: The election authorities today dispatched the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to all the 36 polling stations of 33-Mechuka Assembly Constituency where a different battle is being fought amongst young leaders of political parties.
Leading the electoral battle is Passang Dorjee Sona (INC) and Tshering Naksang (NCP); followed by Bote Yuto (PPA) and Tako Puning (AITC).
This is a unique electoral battle. Though not apparent but it appears that all the four candidates seem to have arrived at a common understanding to treat each of the four administrative circles —Mechuka, Monigong, Tato and Pidi — as an Assembly segment in itself. All four, after completing their campaigning at Mechuka, Tato and Pidi, have moved into conquer Monigong. Reportedly, this battle field is going to be the deciding field, hence all four are going to stay put there till the voting day.
For record, it may be mentioned that Monigong comprises Bokar and Memba tribes with 2,564 voters, Tato has 1,766 voters with domination of Pailibo tribe whereas Mechuka with 3,902 voters comprises of Membas, and the smallest administrative circle, Pidi comprises only of 761 voters belonging to the Bokar tribe. This statistics assumed significance in the light of clan-based politics started by older generation leaders like PD Sona (Sr) and Tadik Chije. Also for record, it may noted that Pasang Dorjee Sona (Jr) and Tshering Naksang are from Memba tribe. Bote Yuto is a Pailibo whereas Tako Puning belongs to the Bokar tribe. THE SENTINEL
