‘Ranjan Daimary is a traitor’

GUWAHATI, Oct 5: Retaliating to NDFB anti-talks faction chief Ranjan Daimary’s statement on seeking help from Bangladesh and China for its armed struggle towards a ‘sovereign Boroland’, the Assam Public Works secretary Bitu Talukdar said Daimary is a traitor who has nefarious intentions to turn Asom into an Islamic land. He said Daimary is not a genuine advocate of Bodo people’s freedom, but a traitor who is conducting business with the support of outside countries for his selfish interests. His conversion from Christianity to Islam is a clear proof of his wicked intentions, Talukdar said.

Talukdar also refuted Daimary’s claims of Bodo people supporting and contributing to the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and asked Daimary to get his facts right.

Assam Public Works president Abhijit Sarma said Daimary’s statement of Bodo government seeking outside support is ridiculously naive and the biggest joke ever made. He went to the extent of saying that Daimary and the likes should be uprooted from our society in the greater interest of people. He also questioned the Government for not taking any steps to detain Ranjan Daimary’s sister Anjali Daimary for investigation and find out the NDFB chief’s whereabouts. If Anjali Daimary is not in favour of the NDFB, she should appeal to her brother and the rest of the men to surrender, Sarma opined.

He also said that in order to protect Asom from negative forces like the ULFA, NDFB and Bangladeshis, the general public must step out, unite and take action. THE SENTINEL
