State BJP protests Chinese objections

ITANAGAR, Oct 15: The State unit BJP today condemned the reported Chinese objections to Prime Minister’s visit to the State and claimed that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.

In a statement here, the party unit said the State is governed by a democratically elected government under the Constitution of India since 1978 and has elected representatives to the Parliament since 1977. It blamed the UPA Government for not ruling out any prospects of territorial adjustment with China in respect of Arunachal’s territory. It said the Congress party’s lack of political will is encouraging and the Left’s inability to intervene imaginatively in the foreign policy have exposed the Centre’s position in the repeated Chinese claims and objections over the visit of the Prime Minister to the State.

The party maintained the Chinese stand has reaffirmed the demand for immediate pro-action measures through Comprehensive Border Management Policy Programme along with substantial financial grants for the State.

Towing the same line with its national counterpart, the State unit called upon the State Government to convene an all-party meeting and constitute a State-level coordination committee on the issue with representatives from all political parties, NGOs and student organizations to take up the matter with the Centre.
