Steps to check voting by bogus voters from Asom

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The Papumpare District Election Officer (DEO), Arunachal Pradesh, and the police are taking all measures to check voting by alleged bogus voters from Asom in the district.
In a press release issued today, the Papumpare DEO said that he had received complaints that names of many voters, not residing in Itanagar or Naharlagun but in Asom, had their names in the electoral roll of Papumpare district.

Taking cognizance of the complaints, Papumpare DEO has taken steps like intensive checking of passengers in the entry check post and sealing of border checkposts of Asom at Hollongi, Banderdewa, Gumto and Kimin on the polling day. This apart, the release said, no vehicles from Asom will be allowed to enter Arunachal Pradesh and no vehicles from Arunachal Pradesh will also be allowed to move out of the State on the polling day. Movement of any kind of private vehicles, including minibuses and taxis will also be restricted on that day. If any bogus voters are nabbed in the polling stations on the poll day, the release said, they will be arrested and criminal cases registered against them for fraudulently enrolling their names in the electoral roll in Papumpare district.
