TEZPUR, Oct 25: The cultural town, Tezpur gets ready to welcome the renowned litterateurs, journalists in the 1st fifty yearly general conference of the Sonitpur Zila Sangbadik Karma Parishad on November 7 and 8 in the Distirct Library, Tezpur. As per the agenda, the parishad flag will be hoisted by Bichitra Narayan Mahanta, president of the zila parishad at 10 am on November 7 and at 10.30 am respects to the martyrs. The executive committee and subject committee meeting will be held from 11 am. Padmasree Dr Sheela Barthakur will inaugurate the competition of Diha Naam at 2 pm and cultural programme by local artistes will be held at 5 pm. On October 8, discussion on the subject– ‘Sampratik Assamat Sanghad Madyan Sangbadik Nirjatan Aru Iear Pratikarar Upaya’ (Journalism in Assam at present, atrocities on journalists and remedial measures on it). The noted thinker and writer Ismail Hussain will deliver the inaugural speech at 1 pm and the souvenir– ‘Alokpat’ will be opened by the State general secretary of the parishad and Sr. journalist Pran Mahanta. At 6.30 pm ‘Akhan Kola Pataka’ (A black flag) written by poet, dramatist and journalist Prabin Saikia will be staged on the direction of lyricist, dramatist, and Moon Light Media awardee Mukut Patangia.
