Touch and go at Miao

MIAO, Oct 8: In a significant deviation from traditional ‘clan and party’ based politics, Miao in Changlang district today witnessed a novel shift in electoral paradigm. Striking a chord with the Christian-dominated area of Miao Assembly Constituency; NCP National general secretary PA Sangma recollected his first visit to Miao way back in 1978 as a part of a parliamentary delegation on a fact-finding commission of an alleged ‘massacre’ of members of the minority community.

Seeking votes for Samchoom Ngemu, Sangma claimed that the four-time MLA, Ngemu, has literally transformed the small village of 1978 into a big town today. Non-Christian Ngemu must have been the happiest man with the arrival of Sangmas since he is pitted against Kamlung Mossang, a devout Christian.

However, an INC worker retorted that today’s rally effect would be nullified after the INC rally in the same ground a day-after. the sentinel
