Traffic jam in Shillong

From a Correspondent
SHILLONG, Oct 4: The Meghalaya Urban Affairs Department said that the 120 buses under the JNNURM Scheme would be used in Shillong city to lessen the traffic jam. The department informed that with the use of these buses, traffic jam would be minimized in the city. These buses will pick up the office-goers as well as the students from every locality.

As of now, student are going to schools in their private cars or common cars that can carry only five to six students. So, the decision of purchasing the buses will help carrying students –– around 30 to 36 in each bus –– which will free the roads from traffic jam. Instead of so many cars plying daily, there will be only one bus for students of a school. These buses will move according to the time schedule. THE SENTINEL
