Three arrested for duping

DIBRUGARH, Nov 2: The police arrested three youths on charges of fraud. The arrested youths have been identified as Arindam Dey, Devgarh, West Bengal, Shankar Mukherjee, Medinipur, West Bengal, and Abhijit Laha, Borguri, Tinsukia, Assam.

The police sources revealed that, the arrested youths had cheated hundreds of people by setting up a fake financial institution- Mahalakshmi Paribar Limited’s branch office here. One Nirmal Dhanuka of Grahambazar area lodged a complaint against the financial institutions recently. The police registered a case (no.537/09) under section 420/406/34 and jumped into action. The police team headed by its Investigating Officer KC Bora arrested all the three youths at Guwahati and brought them to Dibrugarh today. During interrogation, all the arrested persons confessed their crime and revealed similar branches are operating from various places like Dimapur, Pasighat, Itanagar, Khunsa of Nagaland and Itanagar respectively and are doing a roaring business. The arrested youths also stated that, they were given appointment by one Shome Roy of Kolkata. But police, during investigation could not find out any information about Roy. All the arrested youths were produced before the court today. Investigation is on. THE SENTINEL
