BARPETA, Dec 6: An allegation has been levelled against some members of the Barpeta Youth Congress for attacking a group of the No.10 Keotkuchi gaon panchayat who had taken shelter in a local hotel recently. It was reported that a no confidence motion was passed against Keotkuchi gaon panchayat president Hasmad Ali by eight members of the gaon panchayat for misappropriating fund money.
Sources said members of the Barpeta Youth Congress forcibly entered into the hotel and threatened the gaon panchayat members hiding in the hotel to withdraw the no confidence motion. One Kalyani Pathak was also reportedly injured in the incident.
The local people, on the other hand, staged an agitation in front of the Barpeta Block Development office at Keotkuchi for not taking any steps against Hasmad Ali even after a no confidence motion was passed against him. THE SENTINEL
