Dorjee Khandu spells health mantra for development

ITANAGAR, Dec 6: Healthy and hygienic society is the only mantra to ensure accelerated development of a State, asserted State Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu after inaugurating the newly procured state-of-the-art medicinal equipment like MRI and computerized X-ray machines at Ramakrishna Mission Hospital here today.

“A simple but warm smile from a medical practitioner and the nurses can ease out a patient’s illness to a great extent,” he advised.

Apart from behavioural approach, the Chief Minister called on the hospital authority to issue special directives to the patients and their attendants to avoid smoking and chewing tobacco in the hospital premises.

Lauding the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital for rendering philanthropic health services to the people, Khandu expressed hope that with the procurement of the advanced equipments, the Hospital would deliver efficient health services to the needy, which were earlier not available in the State.

He also reiterated on creating awareness on HIV/AIDS which is engulfing the State as a wild fire.

Khandu, later, felicitated the outgoing Secretary of the Hospital Swami Vishawatmananda with a souvenir and extended his gratitude for his relentless service to the State for decades.

Speaking on the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister Tanga Byaling stressed for a united effort to fight various diseases to make the State disease free. Terming the RK Mission Hospital as lifeline for the people of the State, he assured it of possible assistance from the Government’s end.

Finance Minister Setong Sena, who was also present, hoped that the new life-saving machines would benefit the people and appreciated the Hospital for rendering service to humanity in the most important fields of education and health.
