BPPF for more states in India

BPPF for more states in India

From our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 16: Former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma who is the member of the policy making body of the BPPF said that their party deserved smaller states in India for the equal development of all communities across the country.

Brahma while interacting with the mediapersons said that, there should be a National policy over the creation of smaller states and if needed there should be a National debate taking the issue. He said the Government of India, after the creation of Telangana State is now vocal against the creation of more states in India. Why the Government of India is keeping flexible over the issue as it also said there would not be any new states in India after the creation of Uttarakhand, Chattisgarh, etc., he questioned and said adding that the policy of the Government of India should be uniform as there should not be objection in creation of separate Bodoland state in the line Telangana State.

Former MP said the BPPF will welcome BPF president Hagrama Mohilary if he is really serious over the separate state demand. He also said Mohilary, being the constitutional head of the Council should stop emotional blackmailing over the issue and must clear on his stand. He further said, Mohilary should avoid giving casual statement as the demand of separate Bodoland state is the demand of all people, organizations of the region.

The president of the BPPF Rabiram Narzary said that, their party was not at all against the creation of separate Bodoland state as they have been fighting for the separate state over the years and several thousands people have sacrificed their lives for the cause of separate state. Many Bodo women were gang raped and badly tortured during the democratic movement for separate state of Bodoland, but there should not be any political drama over the issue because it is a sentimental issue, he said adding that no one has right to defame the supreme sacrifice of the people. He also said, the BPF should pressurize the Government as that of TRS chief KC Rao who walked out for the creation of the Telangana State although they were the part of UPA Government. He further questioned why the State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is keeping silent over the creation of separate Bodoland state in the line of Telangana as the UP Chief Minister Mayabati is also raising voice to create Bundelkhand and Horidpur states in UP.
