NEW DELHI/KOKRAJHAR, Dec 17: BPF MP from Kokrajhar Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary today staged a demonstration in Parliament from 10.30 am to 11.00 am taking placards urging the Centre to take appropriate steps to create a separate Bodoland state in the line of Telangana as early as possible.
Bwiswmuthiary said he raised the demand for the creation of a separate Bodoland state in the line of Telangana through the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. “Creation of a separate state of Bodoland is the only way out to bring permanent peace in the Bodo-infested areas in Assam as the NDFB is also demanding a Bodoland state,” Bwiswmuthiary said, and urged Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and the Government of India to take a wise, noble and timely decision to create a Bodoland state. He said the population of BTAD is 30 lakh, but it gets a meagre amount for its development. “There should be enhancement of financial allocations to the Council but unfortunately the funding is decreasing,” he said. the sentinel
