KOKRAJHAR, Dec 11: The BTC EM of Publicity and Public Relations and Food and Civil Supplies Lwmsrao Daimary laid emphasis on the preservation of indigenous games of the Bodos including modern Khomlainai (Bodo wrestling) which has attained national fame.
Attending the conclusion of Khomlainai training and black belt certificate distribution ceremony held at Mohirang Community hall at Khoirabari in Udalguri district on Thursday, Daimary praised the Khomlainai Federation of India (KFI) and the Bodoland Indigenous Games Association (BIGA) for their relentless efforts for the promotion and preservation of indigenous games of the region through holding various programmes and championships. He said, both the associations have brought a new revolution for the preservation and upgrading of indigenous games. He also called upon the people to give more importance towards their own indigenous games which are now becoming popular.
The founder and the Grand Master of the Khomlainai Chanakya Brahma, in his speech to the trainees and the local people dwelt at length regarding the Khomlainai and other indigenous games as well as their activities, promotional programmes and networking in the National and International arena.
The BTC EM Lwmsrao Daimary formally handed over the black belt certificate to the coaches who have successfully completed the training and became eligible for it. The certificates were distributed to twenty coaches of Udalguri and Dhemaji districts. The programme was also attended by the Principal of Khoirabari College Hiron Deka Narzary, Secretary General, KFI Guno Shankar Wary, Assistant Secretary A Basumatary, leaders of Khoirabari Anchalik Committee, ABSU, BPF and sports personalities.
