NDFB lauds Centre on Telengana issue

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 11: The National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) has welcomed the creation of separate Telengana State.

In a press statement issued to the press, NDFB information and publicity secretary S Sanjarang said, the NDFB which is on peace process would like to welcome the Indian Government’s decision to divide Andhra Pradesh into two States- Andhra Pradesh and Telengana in response to the long standing demand of the people of Telengaa area.

Lauding the step, the NDFB said the present UPA Government under the leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister has taken the right decision in the right time.

“We are hopeful that the Union will take similar steps to create Bodoland out of Assam by devolution of power as per the Article 2 and 3 of the Constitution of India to resolve the vexed political problem of the Bodo people”. “It would be gross injustice on the part of Government of India, if the demands of separate States such as Bodoland, Gorkhaland, Dimaraji, Vidarbha, Bundalkandh, etc. are turned down. There will be no peace in the region if these problems are not resolved politically.

The Federation of Boro Youth (FBY) also urged the Centre for creation of Bodoland saying it is the only solution for the Bodo people to safeguard their rights.

“The separate Bodoland State is the ultimate dream of the Bodos who are the sons of the soil. They have been fighting for it and the Government should respect our right”, it said. THE SENTINEL
