Suspected foreigners in project work!

DIBRUGARH, Dec 11: The Barbarua-Lepetkata Labour Protection Committee (BLLPC) alleged that a number of people of suspected identity have been engaged in the construction of the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) at Lepetkata.

The BLLPC’s general secretary, Sunil Rabidas stated that a number of agents had brought people of suspected identity from Barpeta, Nagaon and other places of lower Assam as workers, ignoring the interest of local people. The organization identified more than 78 persons of doubtful identity and sent them back to their respective places.
It may be recalled that, these labourers were supplied to the BCPL’s construction site by one Imran Khan.

The Greater Asomiya Yuba Mancha, Barbarua Lepetkata Regional Committee’s president, Rohini Gogoi and secretary of Barbarua unit of AASU, Nirmal Dowerah, have cautioned the BCPL authority that they will stop the construction work of the BCPL for indefinite period if the latter engaged labourers of doubtful identity in future. Similar threat was also given by the BLLPC. THE SENTINEL
