Assam Lok Sabha Election
KOKRAJHAR, April 9: With rejection of URMCA candidate Rajani Boro during scrutiny of nomination papers on Monday, three candidates are in fray for No 5 Kokrajhar ST HPC which clearly indicates a triangular contest in the ensuing Parliamentary elections in the constituency.
The candidates for the Kokrajhar seat are — SK Bwiswmuthiary from BPF, UG Brahma from BPPF and Sobda Ram Rabha from AGP. Both Bwiswmuthiary and Brahma, who were also the president of ABSU, have the strong background in Bodo society while Rabha’s name was heard only in 2004 and most of the people have not even seen his face.
Meanwhile, political parties have launched their campaigns round the corner. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, who is also the president of BPF, has been campaigning for Bwiswmuthiary along with other senior party leaders. Public meetings of BPF were also held recently at Saraibil, Sapkata, Srirampur, Hatidhura and Gossaigaon for Bwiswmuthiary where Hagrama Mohilary, his deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary and BTC speaker Reo Reoa Narzary addressed the meetings.
On the other hand, the BPPF is also seen campaigning for its candidate UG Brahma. President of BPPF Rabiram Narzary and other senior party leaders are seen working in the field. source: THE SENTINEL
