Voting peaceful in Tripura
Agartala: After last Assembly election last year, this is second time Tripura witnessed peaceful voting. With moderate voting in the morning, the day witnessed about 75-78 percent polling till the end.
However, in some places of the state, the voting went beyond 5.30 pm. Reports from all the subdivisions show that moderate voting was recorded in all polling booths.
People were not seen much enthusiastic in this Lok Sabha polls in casting their votes. With the progress of the day, less number of voters in comparison to the number in the morning cast votes.
This time the number of booths was 3008 and total electorates were 10, 93,799 for West Tripura and 9, 88,466 for East Tripura Parliamentary seats. Out of total 3008 booths, 79 were of Z category and 434 were Y categories posing a great challenge to security forces.
However, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state. THE SHILLONG TIMES
