Ranee Narah lashes out at Arun Sarma

KAMALABARI, April 21 – Ranee Narah, Congress candidate for the 14 Lakhimpur HPC has lashed out at the sitting MP and candidate of the AGP-BJP combine, Dr Arun Kumar Sarma, for his failure to judiciously spend Rs 27 crore he had received as his MP area development fund during his tenure of 13 years as the member of the Rajya Sabha and two-time member of the Lok Sabha.

In this respect, she said that she was also a two-time MP from the constituency for 6 years and she had received Rs 11 crore as her MP area development fund. She proudly said that she was able to spend this amount judiciously displaying the dossier of the expenditure of this fund. She further said that she had played a key role in activating the Leelabari airport at North Lakhimpur. Narah criticised Sarma for the latter’s failure to raise the burning issues of the State on the platform of the Parliament appropriately.

She was addressing a public meeting at Garamur here on April 17 as a part of her electioneering. It was presided over by Hiteswar Bora, president, Majuli Block Congress Committee. Earlier, addressing the gathering, Rajiv Lochan Pegu, MLA, called upon the voters of Majuli to cast their votes in favour of his party to form a progressive and secular government at the Centre.
