Two-day Howraghat Rongali Bihu utsav ujjapan

HOWRAGHAT, April 20: The 45th Howraghat Rongali Bihu celebration organized by the Howraghat Rongali Bihu Ujjapan committee concluded here on Sunday peacefully.
The two-day-long bihu celebration programme started from Saturday morning.

On the first day, at 9 am, the Bihu flag was hoisted by Bihu Utsav Ujjapan Committee president Kirti Bora and the smriti tarpan programme was led by Subal Barman.

Later on, traditional games and sports were held accordingly as per scheduled. Events like Mukali bihu and state level Bihuwati competitions were held from 2 pm in the evening.
On the next day, Jeng bihu competition along with different competition events were also organized. On the closing day, an open meeting was organized where Asom Xahitya Xabha president and noted litterateur Rong Bong Terang and secretary general Parmananda Rajbongshi along with different distinguished persons of different societies attended the open meeting.

Padmashri Rongbong Terang while narrating on the significance of Rongali bihu, stressed on the need of open and clean mind of workers in order to improve the Asom literary body.

While speaking on the crisis that mounted in the literary body, Terang said, “Asom Xahitya Xabha never faced stiff crisis but faced some section of people that were engaged with the literary body.” Meanwhile, Rong Bong Terang while addressing the open meeting also said that development of every community’s literature and culture will be possible when all caste will cooperate and understand each other.

During the meeting, AXX secretary general Dr Parmanand Rajbongshi dwelt on the Rongali Bihu and highlighted on the different literary development related policies that were up the Asom literary body‘s sleeve. THE SENTINEL
