ACS officers take a day out with men in olive green

MANGALDAI, Sept 12: Tamulpur Brigade under the aegis of Red Horns Division organized a one-day training for the Assam Civil Services (ACS) officers at Tamulpur. About 60 ACS officers who are under going training at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati, attended the training.

The training was held to give an overview of the aid rendered by the Army to civil authorities to maintain law and order, disaster management, rescue and relief operations including flood relief and conduct of counter terrorist operations under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). An Equipment Display was also organized during the event.

Asom government has been organizing in-service training programmes for ACS officers for the last couple of years in order to inculcate an All India perspective amongst ACS Officers and to sensitize them about the Defence Services. The State Government has been providing them with a wide range of experience including attachment with the Army and the Air Force.

In the training camp, an enthusiastic participation with a open and frank exchange of views and ideas from either side took place. All the participants felt the need of more frequent exchange programmes in future for cohesive efforts to uplift Asom. Most of these officers are posted in field areas as SDO (Civil), SDO (Sadar), BDOs, election officers and circle officers.

Such interactive programmes are a welcome step in the direction of nurturing greater association and understanding between the Army and the Civil Services which is of paramount importance during testing times for the country, be it disaster management, internal security or external threat.
