38- Rumgong: Tamiyo Taga Vs Dibang Tatak Vs Tayu Jerang Vs Karma Jerang

The hills left of Yomgo river will witness two old timers and two new wannabes impressing upon the 11501 electorates to be their legislator.

Tamiyo Taga of BJP, Dibang Tatak of INC, Tayu Jerang of NCP and Karma Jerang of JD(U) are in the race to represent the Rumgong Assembly constituency in West Siang for the next five years, which, undoubtedly is a Herculean task given the number of adversaries each have to face.

Tamiyo Taga, former Speaker in the State Assembly and two-time MLA from the area, is a seasoned politician and viewed as the most promising candidate according to analysts. Taga is a BJP strong man in the State and has been its National Council Member and former State unit president.

According to Gode Tatak, Mohila Morcha president of West Siang, the main achievements of Taga as an MLA were efficient implementation of PMGSY schemes and flood control works which benefited agricultural fields between Roing and Pangkeng areas. She also said that the public of the area are more aware then before and will vote for development. If the performance is taken into account, an edge of Taga over the other candidates cannot be ruled out, she added.
The other giant killer in the constituency can be Dibang Tatak of INC, who has also served the same number of terms in the Assembly as Taga. Another advantage he always has is that he is the brother-in-law of veteran Gegong Apang and can pull strings when it counts. As the incumbent legislator of the area, Tatak can take credits for the recent upgradation of Rumgong SDO to ADC headquarters and establishing executive divisions of PWD and Power.

The other two candidates, Karma Jerang of JD (U) and Tayu Jerang of NCP, are first timers in the electoral fray but are no small fries. As per the latest local opinion polls, Karma Jerang is leading persuasively in the second spot in the area. On the other hand, the NCP wave that is sweeping the State has helped Tayu Jerang consolidate his position to a favourable position. At this date, the NCP candidate cannot be taken lightly in any sense.

Also the clan politics may be fruitful or detrimental for the candidates as people have become more aware of real issues. THE SENTINEL
