GUWAHATI, Oct 2: In a bid to bring respite to the State employees, the All Assam Police Association has appealed to the Sixth Pay Commission to submit its report to the Government of Asom at the earliest.
The Sixth Pay Commission was set up in May 2008 under the chairmanship of former Secretary in the Union Government, Bhaskar Baruah to recommend revision of salaries for the State Government employees at par with the Centre. The commission had been extending the deadline of report submission. Of late, it was slated to submit the report by September 30. But, yet again, the commission has failed to table its report within the stipulated time frame.
In this connection, All Assam Police Association secretary Mritunjay Saikia has appealed to the commission to submit its report at the earliest in order to bring respite to the employees suffering from artificial price rise. Extension of time frame sought by the commission on several occasions and the subsequent delay in report submission is quite unfortunate, he said. THE SENTINEL
