Contractors allege deprivation to bid

ITANAGAR, Dec 7: The All Arunachal Registered Contractors Association (AARCA) today alleged that Class-I government registered contractors of the State were being denied participation in the tender bid for the Papu-Yupia-Hoj-Potin Road construction as per the latest official notification of the PWD.

In a statement here today, the Association claimed that the department had sought tender bids from contractors for the said work divided into three parts with each part involving amounts much higher than the local contractors could invest. Claiming that the State government had enlisted contractors as per rules and work value at Rs 15 crore as ceiling limit for Class-I registered contractors, the Association alleged that, dividing the said work in three packages would deprive the contractors from participating in the bid for tender. Drawing attention that even an agency like the Border Road Organization divides similar projects into several small packages to facilitate local contractors to bid, it blamed the State department of not taking the interest of local contractors into consideration despite the fact that they were capable of executing the work.

Calling for packages worth or below the ceiling limit as fixed by the government, the Association demanded immediate revocation of the said notification of the department. the sentinel
