Student bodies’ plea to release abducted teacher

UDALGURI, Dec 6: The students organizations of Udalguri has made an appeal to the kidnappers of Ghanashyam Sarmah, headmaster of Sindrijhora Primary School to release him on humanitarian ground. As Sarmah was suffering from stomach ails (melina) and his wife’s condition is also serious and also considering fate of minor school children of the school, the Udalguri district units of ABSU, ASAA, AAGSU and Udalguri Sub-Division Primary Teachers’ Association has requested the kidnappers to release him immediately. The meeting was conducted by Dipak Dahat, president of Udalguri District Gorkha Students’ Union and attended by Shivanath Ojha, the secretary of Udalguri Sub-Division Primary Teachers’ Association, Nerkhang Khakhlary, the general secretary of Udalguri District ABSU, Lala Smith, the general secretary Udalguri District ASAA, have expressed their concern over the deteriorating situation in the region.
